Congratulations to all of our Songwriter Finalists

AMP Songwriter Contest Information, Rules And Regulations

Amp would like to welcome all of our students participating in the Fall ’22 session to the AMP Songwriter Contest. We encourage all of you that are interested in songwriting to write a song and go through the submission process as it will be a valuable experience to prepare you for future songwriting endeavors. AMP is also offering a $1000 prize to the entree that is judged to be overall best submission.

AMP will begin accepting submissions on Saturday, 10/15/22 and the deadline for all song submissions will be 11:59pm on Friday, 11/18/2022.  This will be a strict deadline and the submission link will be removed on 11/19/2022. All songs must be electronically submitted to AMP via the link on the AMP Songwriter Contest page of the AMP website www.ampcv.org. All submissions must be an audio file in “.mp3” or “.wav” file format. Every Entrant will be allowed to submit up to three (3) songs to the competition. All Entrants must be enrolled in the AMP Fall ’22 session. All submissions must be strictly and solely representative of the Entrant’s work regarding, but not limited to, lyrics, arrangements, orchestration, demo creation, and all other aspects of the submission. Any submissions found to be outside the scope of these rules will be disqualified. An Entrant is defined as an individual songwriter entering a submission or a collective of two (2) or more co-writers (“a band”, all of whom are enrolled in AMP Fall ’22 Session) entering a submission. All Entrants that fall into this latter category of “band” will understand that the co-writing credit and all potential earnings will be split equally amongst all listed members of the collective or “band” submission.

The submissions will be judged by an independent panel of judges all of whom are working songwriters and/or producers. All submissions will receive constructive feedback and/or suggestions for further improvement from the judges. Winners of the first round of judging will be announced on Friday, 12/2/2022. Winning submissions will move on to the finals and will have the opportunity to be performed in front of the judges and a live audience at the AMP Songwriter Showcase held at the new AMP Stage Side Venue on Sunday, 12/11/2022. This final round will determine the winner of the contest.

As stated previously, all submissions must include a list of the contributing creators so the potential winnings will be distributed equally/fairly to all credited contributors to the song. In addition, all individual Entrants will need to consider how band personnel (if applicable) will be compensated from the potential winnings for their participation if not credited as creators or creative contributors. All agreements between creators/creative contributors and band personnel will be expected to be in writing and submitted to AMP prior to the showcase on 12/11.

As stated previously, the submissions must be electronically submitted which means that recording a “demo” of your song/songs is a necessary step. While some of the Entrants may have the experience and resources needed to produce a demo independently, AMP realizes there will be some Entrants that do not. AMP will provide Entrants with the opportunity to record their demo/demos at the AMP facility guided by AMP faculty. Recording workshops will also be provided this session to assist with the demo production and electronic submission process.  In the best interest of everyone involved,  AMP is prepared to record any individual or band demo  offering up to 8 inputs (8 tracks) to keep a level playing field. We ask anyone recording at home or on their own to please do your best to limit your recordings to 8 tracks.

Any Entrant that makes it to the 2nd round is encouraged to seek copyright for the submission through BMI or ASCAP. Instruction on how to complete this process will be offered to any interested Entrant by AMP during the 1st round competition window.

All entries submitted must be original songs and shall not infringe any copyrights or any other rights of any third party.

Please list the full name of the songwriter(s)/creators/creative contributors - do not use initials.

Entrant retains all ownership rights to all submitted song(s). AMP will not have any ownership rights to any song(s) submitted.

Entrant acknowledges that all songs entered will be distributed to judges who will be selecting the winners. Entrant agrees to release, indemnify, and hold AMP, its sponsors, and judges harmless for liability, damages, or claims for injury or loss to any person or property relating to, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, participation in the AMP Songwriter Contest.

By entering the AMP Songwriter Contest, Entrant and/or their parents or legal guardian (if such entrant is a minor) agree to accept and be bound by the decisions of AMP and its judges which are final and binding in all matters.

By entering the AMP Songwriter Contest, Entrant agrees to be bound by all terms of these official AMP Songwriter Contest Rules And Regulations as established herein and any amendments to these rules and regulations in the future.

Lastly this contest should be entered into with the spirit of honorable competition. AMP will have zero tolerance for any actions that may be deemed as bullying, intimidation, intentionally disrupting the progress of any Entrant by any means, or any other action that interferes with the fair and accurate representation of any Entrant’s demo recording, submission, preparation and execution of submission at any stage of the contest, and any action that purposely demeans, degrades, or otherwise disrespects an Entrant, their submission, or their preparation at any stage of the contest.

Good Luck and Good Songwriting!!
